Content Is King!

A Picture Says 1000 Words
When we built our demo profile we spent hours deciding which photos to upload to the profile. We did this to help inspire DJs when uploading photos to their profile.

The photos you choose to upload should have the goal of inspiring future customers to book with you. Uploading great photos can be the difference between; being shortlisted and booked vs. no booking at all.

Factors you may want to consider are:

  • The clarity of each photo
  • What’s happening in the photo
  • Can the photo inspire a potential customer to make an enquiry with you

Pixels, Pixels and more Pixels!
We’ve added a note to the ‘Upload Photos’ page asking DJs to keep all photos to a maximum of 1024 x 768 pixels. Although your photos may be of a higher resolution, the file size will be greater e.g. 5mb. Uploading 5mb+ will increase the load time of each photo and you may have lost the customers attention in that time.

Resizing your photos to 1024 x 768 (HD) will speed up the loading time to 1 second. Holding the customer attention is key to your success. Uploading great photos to your profile will also reduce the bounce rate from your profile.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Uploading HD videos is just as, if not, more important than great photos. Why? Consumers spend hours watching YouTubeHD every month on their tablet, smart phone and TV.

Remember the times when you clicked on a YouTube video and instantly bounced back off the video because the sound was inaudible or the video was pixelated? To prevent your customer doing the same with your video we recommend investing in a digital camera which can record videos at full 1080p.

Factors you may want to consider are:

  • Record your video in widescreen
  • Record in full 1080p
  • Record guests interacting with you such as playlist requests
  • Record guests at the event who would like to leave positive feedback
  • Consider using video editing software to add captions
  • Consider purchasing a Tripod e.g.

We believe the above points will help encourage future customers decide whether to make an enquiry with you. We know the process of choosing a digital camera can be daunting as you’ll find all types of marketing blurb offering the best mega pixel on the market but we highly recommend a Nikon Coolpix S9600.

Writing Your Bio

Take time and plan your bio. Your bio will also appear in search results so use this opportunity to engage with potential customers. If you are having trouble writing your bio you may want to consider writing a draft. When you’ve finished writing your first draft, take a break and read through it again. Spell check your bio and when you’re done, upload it.

When writing your bio you may want to include:

  • Where you are from
  • What you have done in terms of gigs
  • What are you doing now in terms of residencies
  • What projects or gigs you are looking to do in the future

Remember with all types of media, content is king! Get this right and you’ll get booked fast!
